London, UK | 23 October 2018  -  NOS, communications and entertainment group in Portugal and mobile payment platform company Centili have launched cGate solution on the Portugese market.

cGate is a unique end-to-end solution (product + service) for Mobile Network Operators, which seamlessly connects to MNO's existing platform and provides a complete set of features and business processes to create, manage and grow direct carrier billing ecosystem. It enables easy and fast client on-boarding, cross-platform monetization, fraud prevention, and continuous monitoring. The solution gives MNOs immediate access to new business models that support all contemporary payment flows, from subscriptions and in-app payments, to mCommerce and app stores.

„Having years of experience in the mobile payments industry, it came naturally to NOS and Centili to work together to bring the most sophisticated mobile payments services to the vast number of NOS subscribers in Portugal. We invested our mutual knowledge, expertise and provided consultancy and guidance. Therefore we are very proud that our collaboration with NOS was the most challenging and the most successful cGate project so far.“

Aleksandar Nikolic, Regional Manager in Centili

On one side, this partnership allows over 4.7 million NOS mobile subscribers (either prepaid or postpaid) to have their online payments charged directly to their mobile account. Direct Carrier Billing (DCB), mostly used in App Stores, Dating, Social, Video / Music on demand and Gaming industries, enriches user payment experience and simplifies the processes offering a variety of options for the end-consumer.

On the other side, it allows digital companies in need for mobile payments, not only an access to the most advanced technology offered by telecom companies, but also the widest potential reach of end-users.

“Centili brings together excellent and safe carrier billing ecosystem and we belive that this industry knowledge will bean added value for a more secure and improved user experience in the new world of mobile payments, for the portuguese market."

Alexandre Martins, Head of mobile product at NOS

Convenience of this solution and the local lack of direct access to traditional online payment methods such as credit cards, makes carrier billing the second most popular online payment method for Portugal digital industry. Moreover, it will have an impact on other Digital Companies to meet their customers' needs, with easy-to-use payment options and an intuitive user experience.

„cGate is a result of our close collaboration with Merchants and Operators over the course of many years. It includes complex business logic ranging from merchant integration technologies, payment flow control, subscription management, limits, refund management and many more. As in any payments business, safety features are highly important, which is why we have always prioritized the development and constant improvements of security features, fraud prevention, KPI tracking and alerting.“

Aleksandar Nikolic, Regional Manager in Centili
