2013 – the year of Infobip’s mobile payments boom

The year started with a global buzz that mobile payments are set to grow exponentially in 2013. Infobip’s mobile payments facts and figures are reflecting this trend. Paolo Rizzardini, Infobip’s Vice President Mobile Payments says it has so far been a rewarding year with high expectations.

“Infobip’s decade-long experience and knowledge in mobile technology helped us to develop a stable and fertile ground for new business opportunities. We are constantly improving our payment service by implementing new features and putting our skills and expertise at the disposal of our customers.

Back in 2010, mobile payments were just an idea our management had. Infobip had an already established a significant footprint in the telecommunications industry, so we knew that we would have more than a head start if this business idea turned into a new project.

Our mobile payment story began in 2011. By 2012 we had gathered 30 young and enthusiastic people, mainly focusing on product development.

Thanks to Infobip’s excellent relationships with operators, our mobile payments connectivity reached 29 countries within a year.   And now, in 2013, we are experiencing a real boom. Our coverage has grown by 133% reaching 64 countries, and by the end of the year we will have coverage in 80 countries. This way we brought our clients close to nearly 4 billion users.

Today, merchants all around the world trust our expertise. Traffic made in 2013 show huge increases, improving overall traffic more than 10 times. This result is not a surprise since our global conversion rate, the percentage of successfully completed transactions, is at 64%, regardless of the technology supported by the mobile operators. In countries where direct mobile billing is supported, conversion rate is even higher, reaching 85%. By the end of 2013, we expect 100% revenue growth.

We’ve also invested heavily in platform development. This is a very important part of making the our platform the most secure, stable and reliable in the market, offering a superior user experience and integrating every flow type supported by operators, as well as different payment options. To keep the growth momentum going, we’ve more than 50 people to support our worldwide expansion.

By 2013, Infobip had offices across the globe with global headquarters in London and regional HQs in Moscow, Buenos Aires, Kuala Lumpur, Johannesburg and Dubai, with further offices in Paris, Milan, Sydney, Lagos, Nairobi, Kampala, Belgrade, Sarajevo and Zagreb.  We plan to continue the expansion to San Francisco, Madrid, Shanghai and Tokyo.”    Infobip will be exhibiting at this year’s Gamescom.
